SCC2-SCC4 cohesin loader complex Overview

GO Annotations consist of four mandatory components: a gene product, a term from one of the three Gene Ontology (GO) controlled vocabularies (Molecular Function, Biological Process, and Cellular Component), a reference, and an evidence code.

Summary
Required for the stable association of the cohesin complex (CPX-1867) with DNA and ensures its enrichment at the mitotic spindle of the centromere thus ensuring correct segregation of the sister chromatids into the daughter cells during cell replication. The RSC chromatin remodeling complex (CPX-1889/CPX-1888) recruits budding yeast SCC2/SCC4 to broad nucleosome-free regions and thhe SCC2/SCC4 complex cooperates with RSC to maintain nucleosome depletion at its binding sites.
GO Slim Terms

The yeast GO Slim terms are higher level terms that best represent the major S. cerevisiae biological processes, functions, and cellular components. The GO Slim terms listed here are the broader parent terms for the specific terms to which this gene product is annotated, and thus represent the more general processes, functions, and components in which it is involved.
