Abstract


While the recent paper by Liu, et al. has a commendable goal of isolating the form of chromium in yeast grown in chromium-enriched media, the purported chromium-containing materials that were obtained were not pure while the ratio of the potential ligands to Cr were not reported. Unfortunately, the biological activity assays and other results reported for the impure materials do not provide conclusive information on the composition and properties of the chromium-binding molecules in the yeast.
