Summary Paragraph [TOP] [NEXT] Help
SUMMARY PARAGRAPH for ERG27/YLR100W for ERG27
ERG27 encodes 3-keto sterol reductase, an enzyme that catalyzes the last of three steps required to remove two C-4 methyl groups from an intermediate in ergosterol biosynthesis (1, 2, 3, 4). Cells lacking ERG27 are sterol auxotrophs, and accumulate noncyclic sterol intermediates when grown in the presence of sterols (1).
