Ivanov EL and Haber JE (1997) DNA repair: RAD alert. Curr Biol 7(8):R492-5
Abstract: Mammalian homologues of two important yeast genes involved in DNA double-strand break repair and recombination, RAD51 and RAD54, have been isolated. Knock-out mutations of the genes in mice reveal both reassuring similarities to, and surprising differences from, the analogous mutant phenotypes in yeast.
