2005-04-22	Originally identified computationally as putative H/ACA box snoRNAs, snR84, snR82, and snR83 were originally given the names RUF1, RUF2, and RUF3 respectively, with RUF standing for Rna of Unknown Function, in September 2003 until it could be proven experimentally that these genes are snoRNAs. In April 2005, the RUF names were made Alias names and the SNR (Small Nucleolar Rna) names were made the standard names.
