Sequence Annotation Notes
DateNote
2003-12-01Based on the automated comparison of closely related Saccharomyces species, Kellis et al. suggest that the start site for AKR2/YOR034C be moved 9 nt downstream. This suggestion was reviewed by SGD curators, but will not be incorporated until supported by experimental data. The reason(s) for this decision are as follows: The sequence analysis is inconclusive. Although the ATG currently designated as the start methionine in S. cerevisiae is not conserved in S. mikatae (GTC) or S. bayanus (ATT), it is conserved in S. paradoxus, and the frame is conserved in all four species.
