Nomenclature History
Standard Name Reference
VMA1 Hirata R, et al.  (1990) Molecular structure of a gene, VMA1, encoding the catalytic subunit of H(+)-translocating adenosine triphosphatase from vacuolar membranes of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. J Biol Chem 265(12):6726-33
Other Name(s)Reference
TFP1 Ronne, H.  (1993) Personal Communication, Mortimer Map Edition 12
Nomenclature History Notes
2011-01-06This gene was originally named as TFP1. This name was changed to VMA1 (Vacuolar Membrane Atpase) based on a request from the community. The rationale being that the VMA acronym reflects the role of this gene as a vacuolar membrane ATPase and the VMA acronym will unify the nomenclature of vacuolar membrane ATPase genes.
Other Notes
2000-08-17The VDE/PI-SceI intein is completely contained within the TFP1 gene.
Mapping Notes
1994-08-01Edition 12: tfp1, vma1 is adjacent to pph22
