FRS2 SGD  (2007) Information without a citation in SGD ()
Other Name(s)Reference
cytoplasmic phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase alpha subunit Sanni A, et al.  (1988) Structure and expression of the genes encoding the alpha and beta subunits of yeast phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase. J Biol Chem 263(30):15407-15
Nomenclature History Notes
DateNote
2004-09-20FRS1 and FRS2 were originally designated the alpha and beta subunits, respectively, of cytoplasmic phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase according to the following publication: Sanni A, et al. (1988) Structure and expression of the genes encoding the alpha and beta subunits of yeast phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase. J Biol Chem 263(30):15407-15 However, the designations have been reversed in keeping with sequence comparisons to the phenylalanyl-tRNA synthetase subunits of other organisms, such that FRS1 is now referred to as the beta subunit, and FRS2 the alpha subunit.
