2004-08-25Astell et al. 1981 proposed that the read-through of a UGA stop codon in an unspliced MATa1 transcript would result in a protein of 148 amino acids. However, Miller 1984 showed that the UGA stop codon is spliced out and that the processed message likely encodes a protein of 126 amino acids.
