SUMMARY PARAGRAPH for TEL09R-TR
TEL09R-TR is the 73-bp terminal stretch of telomeric repeats on the right arm of chromosome IX. The telomeric repeat is a G-rich terminal sequence of the form (TG1-3)n or more precisely ((TG)1-6TG2-3)n (1). The repeats are maintained by telomerase and there is generally 300(+/-)75 bp of TG1-3 at a given end (1). Telomeric repeats function in completing chromosome replication and protecting the ends from degradation and end-to-end fusions (1).
Other features of TEL09R, the right telomeric region of chromosome IX, include an X element core sequence TEL09R-XC and X element combinatorial repeats TEL09R-XR.
